Kindergarten Classes

Forcey Christian School will offer 3 classes of full day kindergarten. We use
the Open Court Reading Curriculum, which emphasizes phonics, whole language
(sight words), comprehension, and basic grammar rules (punctuation, capital letters,
and more). We use the Scott Foresman/Addison Wesley curriculum for Math. Some
things we cover in math are numbers to 100, location words, patterns, solids and
shapes, measuring with nonstandard units, telling time to the hour, money, estimation,
skip counting by two's, five's and ten's, and introduction to addition and
subtraction. In addition, Bible is an important part of our curriculum. The
children learn Bible stories and memorize Bible verses each week.

Our kindergarten students go on four field trips during the year. They also
participate in roller skating day (two times) and bike day (one time). We
have a special Mother's Day program, as well as Kindergarten graduation and
a slide show at the end of the school year. Every week the children go to
music class, physical education, and art. The full day classes visit the
library every week while the half day classes visit every other week. They
are able to check out library books.
