Spring Quarter 2010
(March - May)
First Hour (9:15 - 10:30 a.m.)
CHURCH MEMBERSHIP CLASS
Bob Wiltrout (Room 162)
The Forcey membership class is offered during the 1st hour each spring, and the 2nd hour each fall. It is a requirement for anyone desiring to become a member of Forcey, and a nice "refresher course" for anyone who would enjoy a basic review of who we are, what we believe, and why. The class runs for 6 weeks. Prospective members must attend ALL classes. Makeup classes can be arranged if a class is missed.
CORNERSTONE: Deuteronomy
David Mackie & Peter Schwarzer (Room 320)
Moses reminds Israel, at length, of what the Lord required of them as his people if they were to cross the Jordan, take possession of the Promised Land, and enjoy the promised "rest". This message, from Moses, was a word that Israel needed to hear over and over again. Join us as we navigate, chapter by chapter, a book that demonstrates the love relationship of the Lord for his people. What a great opportunity to be reminded of our own need to be totally committed to the Lord in worship and obedience!
MEN'S FELLOWSHIP CLASS: "Streams of Living Water"
Jerry Schneider (Room 324)
We'll continue the study of Richard Foster's book: "Streams of Living Water." This study looks at the six dimensions of faith and practice that define the Christian tradition. Using the Scriptures, Foster's text, along with video conversations with Foster and other representatives of the six streams of tradition, the class discussions will be rich and transformative. (Note: This material will also be presented at 11:00 a.m.)
CROSSROADS
Lonnie Harris (Rooms 325 & 327)
This is Crossroad's main gathering. A place where people gather, connect, and get relevant teaching from God's Word. Coffee provided! In March -- "Just Walk Across the Room" DVD series supplemented with teaching to coincide with Pastor Phil's preaching on simple steps in pointing people to faith in Christ. In April and May -- "Christ Made Visible in the Gospel of John", Our Lord & Creator, Jesus Christ became a man, took up residence among us, and showed us the glory of God the Father and from that fullness offers us one gracious gift after another.
NEW COMMUNITY: Following Jesus
Rev. Zeke Wharton (Room 326)
Jesus is the greatest leader in history and still has followers today. At church we worship Him, sing about Him, and even pray in His name. But do you really know Him? Focusing primarily on John and the Gospels, we are going to focus on Him, and I guarantee He will change you. Be ready to journey with us. We'll provide the coffee and breakfast. You provide the heart ready to follow.
NEW LADIES BIBLE STUDY: "A Woman's Heart, God's Dwelling Place", A Beth Moore Study
Bonnie Ballard & Brenda Bradley (Room 328)
Perhaps no Old Testament event so dramatically illustrates God's persistent desire to relate to His children as the building of the Tabernacle in the wilderness. Through the tabernacle God initiates a deeper relationship with His chosen people by bringing reconciliation, revealing His Glory and the coming of the True Tabernacle -- Jesus Christ. You'll be challenged to prepare your heart, like the Holies of Holies, to become a home for His love, and glory and a dwelling place for the most high God. Contacts: Brenda Bradley or Bonnie Ballard.
GALATIANS
Rick Mallett (Room 360)
What does it mean to be Christ-like? Too often believers focus on the "do's and don'ts" of Scripture which leads to a life of legalism and drudgery. Galatians reveals a life of Christ-like freedom, liberty, peace and joy through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. If we give Him the control, Warren Wiersbe assures us "... there will be liberty, not bondage -- cooperation, not competition -- glory to God, not praise to man." Please join us as we search for true Christ-like freedom through the book of Galatians.
SENIOR HIGH TEENS
(Gym, Forcey Memorial Church)
Second Hour (11:00 - 12:15 a.m.)
1 and 2 SAMUEL
Dr. Todd Beall (Fellowship Hall)
This quarter we will finish our in-depth study of 1 Samuel and continue into 2 Samuel. Come join us as we learn many practical truths from the life of David. Learn why he is called a man "after God's own heart," even though he also failed the Lord in significant areas of his life.
LADIES BIBLE CLASS
Andrea Wiltrout (Room 162)
We'll study the Old Testament books of Jonah and Ruth, and the teachings of Jesus and the early Church concerning community. We'll study Jonah's message to Nineveh, then Ruth's need to be accepted in her new community. We'll look at the teachings of Jesus on light, love, connectedness, and God's invitation to join His family and His great banquet. We'll end with studies in Colossians, Philemon, and Jude on faithfulness to the church community -- how we must be welcoming and caring -- and how this helps us avoid heresy.
911 FOR WOMEN - "Jesus the One and Only" - a Beth Moore Study
Glenda Jones & Cynthia Schneider (Room 226)
"Jesus the One and Only" by Beth Moore, studies the life of Jesus based on Luke. Come on a life-changing journey which will lead you through the hills of Galilee with the Teacher, across the lake with the Master, and finally, on the road toward the cross with the Savior. Get to know Jesus intimately. The topic could not be more appropriate in a time of such unrest in our world today (Workbooks / $16.50 each)
THE HOMEBUILDERS FELLOWSHIP
Dave Willoughby & George Avlonitis (Room 227)
Based on the Love & Respect Marriage Conference by Dr. and Mrs. Emerson Eggerichs, we are delving into changing the way couples talk to, think about, and treat each other. Join us and experience an Adult Bible Class with a small group appeal.
DEUTERONOMY
David Bruce & Rick Claybrook (Room 228)
We will continue our study of Deuteronomy. Moses gives his farewell addresses to the Israelites, calling to mind their distinctive history under God's leadership, what they are to do when they enter the Promised Land, the law and judgments they are to follow, the blessings that follow from obedience and the curses from disobedience, Moses' parting words, and the passage of leadership. We are using The Deuteronomy Project, by Richard Couser.
